BAM Nuttall Limited: application made to abstract water

BAM Nuttall Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from the River Terrace Gravels at Stanstead Lock Gate, Great Amwell within the boundary formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References: TL 38069 12187, TL 38076 12164, TL 38099 12175 and TL 38087 12199 to transfer it to the River Lee Navigation at National Grid Reference TL 38095 12163 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 252 cubic metres an hour
- 6,048 cubic metres a day
Abstraction is planned to take place within a single 10 week period between 29 February 2024 and 01 July 2028 in order to lower water levels to allow work to replace Stanstead Lock Gate.
