Information on the rules, regulations and restrictions for bass fishing from 1 April 2023

The Sea Fisheries (Amendment) Regulations 2023 (legislation.gov.uk) retained and amended the Bass Measures 2020 as per Article 10 of Council Regulation (EU).
This means that revised measures on vessels catching European Seabass were introduced on 1 April 2023.
The measures for 2024 remain as in 2023.
The bass control measures described implement measures designed to manage fishing effort to help protect and improve bass stocks.
Bass limits for 2024
The Sea Fisheries (Amendment) Regulations 2023 (legislation.gov.uk): sets annual fixed gillnet, hook and line and trawls and seines bass limits.
Bass authorisations letters were re-issued in March 2023.
