Details

The Royal Charter forms the constitutional basis of the BBC.

Following the publication of the government’s proposals in a white paper on 12 May 2016, the government published the Charter and Framework Agreement. This Framework Agreement was updated in May 2022.

Also published alongside the updates to the Framework Agreement are the Terms of Reference for the BBC Mid-Term Review.
