Details

This statutory guidance is for governing bodies of schools maintained by the local authority. It explains:

  • why all schools must have a behaviour policy
  • what behaviour policies must cover
  • the role of the governing body and headteacher in shaping their school’s behaviour policy

Statutory guidance sets out what schools and local authorities must do to comply with the law. You should follow the guidance unless you have a very good reason not to.
