Over the last year, the Minister for Faith, Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, visited over 55 places of worship, across over 20 beliefs and denominations across our country, discovering the excellent work being done in faith and belief communities to create supportive, resilient and vibrant neighbourhoods.
The work of faith and belief communities and faith-based organisations in local areas is often undervalued. Lord Bourne’s Faith in Communities tour allowed him to see first-hand the hard work which many faith communities put into supporting their local areas.
The places that Lord Bourne visited and the people he met are evidence of the benefits which are brought to communities when people come together across divides to increase understanding, support the more vulnerable and create cohesive and resilient communities. This report highlights some of the excellent work Lord Bourne saw on his tour, as well as making recommendations to ensure these ideas are shared and replicated more widely.
