This monitoring and evaluation strategy reflects the department’s strong commitment to maintaining and developing a powerful evidence base.

The strategy outlines a clear programme of work to ensure:

• full coverage of evaluation of the important policies and programmes
• increased analytical capability
• the review of the quality of evaluation by an independent and transparent external peer review system
