Details
In 2019 the Bishop of Truro was asked to review what more the then Foreign & Commonwealth Office could do to address the persecution of Christians around the world. The Bishop’s report made practical recommendations for an enhanced response to the plight of persecuted Christians. These recommendations also covered people persecuted for holding other religions, beliefs, or no religious belief at all.
In line with recommendation 22 from the report, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) commissioned an independent review of the implementation of the report’s recommendations. Experts on freedom of religion or belief, Professor Sir Malcolm Evans KCMG OBE, Professor Nazila Ghanea, Professor Ahmed Shaheed, Dr Gehan Gunatilleke and Dr Caroline K Roberts carried out this review and presented their report to Lord Ahmad.
