Bounce Back Loan fraud analytics pilot 2021

This Data Usage Agreement for the Bounce Back Loan fraud analytics pilot between the Department for Business, Enterprise and Industrial Strategy, the Cabinet Office and HMRC was approved and put in place in 2021.

Details

This agreement is published as part of the Code of Practice for public authorities disclosing information under Chapters 1, 3 and 4 (Public Service Delivery, Debt and Fraud) of Part 5 of the Digital Economy Act 2017.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Cabinet Office and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will complete a pilot that will match Bounce Back Loan (BBL) data against data sets held by HMRC to detect suspected fraud in the BBL Scheme.

Note: BEIS existed until 2023 when it was split to form the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
