Bounce Back Loan turnover pilot 2021

This Data Usage Agreement for Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) sampling of Bounce Back Loan application turnover data against HMRC was approved and put in place in 2021.

Details

This agreement is published as part of the Code of Practice for public authorities disclosing information under Chapters 1, 3 and 4 (Public Service Delivery, Debt and Fraud) of Part 5 of the Digital Economy Act 2017.

This information sharing arrangement is to provide an indicative level of fraud within the Bounce Back Loan (BBL) Scheme and to support current policy and future BBL Scheme design and controls.

Through an indicative knowledge of the fraud landscape in the BBL Scheme, future iterations of the scheme can be designed to reduce fraud and ensure appropriate financial resource allocation.

Note: BEIS existed until 2023 when it was split to form the Department for Business and Trade, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
