Fees for bovine semen centre licensing and approval
Updated 5 July 2023
Applies to England, Scotland and Wales
You must pay for your licence application to operate as a collection, storage or quarantine centre for animal semen.
You must also apply and pay for approval to use a bovine animal for semen collection.
How APHA charge for time spent
You must pay £22 per quarter hour or less for APHA’s time spent inspecting your premises. Fees for time spent are in addition to fixed fees for each service.
APHA calculates your inspection and travel fees to the next full quarter hour of work. For example, if APHA spends 20 minutes on your inspection, you will pay for half an hour.
How APHA calculates travel time
The fee amount for travel time is calculated based on the distance from the nearest APHA office to each inspection site.
If an inspector carries out inspections at multiple sites nearby on the same day, the fee for each is calculated from the nearest APHA office to each individual inspection site.
Travel time is capped at 45 minutes each way, so you will not pay more than £132 for travel costs.
Fees
You must pay for application assessments whether your application is approved or not.
