This publication was previously published by Public Health England, which closed on 30 September 2021.

This guidance sets out the process for colonoscopy in the NHS bowel cancer screening programme. It replaces the Quality Assurance Guidelines NHS BCSP Publication No 6 published in February 2011.

It includes information about:

  • patients unfit for colonoscopy
  • colonoscopy procedure
  • quality standards
  • removal of polyps
