This guidance is for NHS bowel cancer screening staff and covers:

  • the principle of informed choice
  • the consent process
  • people who wish to opt out of screening (temporarily)
  • people who wish to be ceased from screening (permanently)
  • returning someone to screening who has been ceased
  • circumstances that may prevent screening
  • ceasing due to ineligibility

Note that guidance for the public is available on opting out of NHS screening.
