Details

This independent report sets out the conclusions of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) task and finish working group on brain tumour research. The working group looked at removing barriers to research, and generating high-quality research applications.

The group brings together clinicians, charities, a patient carer and officials to look at how to increase the level and impact of research into brain tumours. It is the first time that research funders have come together to discuss how this area can be developed.

In 2015 to 2016 an e-petition to increase funding of research into brain tumours was launched. This resulted in George Freeman MP, then Minister for Life Sciences, announcing the formation of a DHSC task and finish working group on brain tumour research. This group is chaired by Professor Chris Whitty, DHSC Chief Scientific Adviser.
