Pilot sign-off form: criteria
Published 21 September 2020
For each service chosen to take part in the pilot, we requested they confirm the following criteria. This was to ensure sites had the appropriate facilities, governance and staffing in place.
We asked services to confirm (yes or no) that:
- reliable telephone support is available from an available radiographer (mobile text/mobile or landline call/email)
- robust IT connectivity is in place so that images can be seen within minutes back at the static site by a radiographer (if required)
- all trained mammographers (assistant practitioners (APs)) involved in the pilot have met the technical recall/repeat standards of <3% (acceptable) over the last 4 quarters
- 2 mobile vans or remote static sites are available to pilot APs working with remote supervision during the duration of the pilot (not necessarily every day)
- all APs working with remote supervision on the mobile facility have been qualified for at least 2 years (full time, or equivalent if working part-time) and have agreed to take part in the pilot
- supervising radiographers are aware of and are willing to support the pilot
- the medical physics expert (MPE) is aware of and supports the pilot and has confirmed that IR(ME)R employers’ procedures support the trial way of working
- there is appropriate governance for the pilot to commence - this must include informing the allied health professional (AHP) lead or appropriate senior lead within the organisation to ensure that the terms of the pilot are known and understood (this should enable all parties to be satisfied that employers’ liability for the pilot is in place to allow for the slight variation in practice)
The pilot sign-off form was signed and dated by:
- the director of screening
- the screening commissioner or screening and immunisation lead
