Breedon Trading Limited: application made to abstract water

Breedon Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to renew licence serial number 6/33/12/*G/0120/R01 on different terms which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of gravel at Willington Lock Quarry, Couple, Bedfrodshire.

The variation applied for is to replace the ‘Industrial (concrete production)’ purpose with ‘Dust supression’. The quantity for this purpose will be increased to 10,950 cubic metres a year, with the quantity for ‘Mineral washing’ being reduced to 579,050 cubic metres a year to compensate. No change is proposed to the total abstraction volumes on the licence.
