Breedon Trading Limited: application made to abstract water

Breedon Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number NE/024/0001/020 to abstract water from underground strata comprising of sands and gravels at Low Harperley Quarry, Low Harperley, County Durham for the purpose of transferring it for dewatering without intervening use to the River Wear at National Grid References (NGRs) NZ 12147 34043 and NZ 11692 34831.

The variation applied for is to remove Appendix 1 from the licence, vary the monitoring condition 9.3, the monitoring submission date and the abstraction area to that contained within the boundary formed by straight lines running between the following NGRs: NZ 10558 35826, NZ 11105 36063, NZ 12168 34326 and NZ 12185 33978.
