Brett Aggregates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Essex Gravels at Lufkins Farm from an area within the boundary formed by straight lines between the following National Grid References: TM 09439 22076; TM 10073 22176; TM 10140 21642 and TM 09489 21562.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 216 cubic metres an hour
- 1,728 cubic metres a day
- 120,000 cubic metres a year.
The water will be used for mineral washing, dust suppression and filling a reservoir for subsequent mineral washing.
In addition, the application is to vary an existing transfer licence to include the above abstraction area and increase the volumes to:
- 216 cubic metres an hour
- 1,728 cubic metres a day
- 630,720 cubic metres a year.
