Details

This Marine Accident Investigation Branch study examines some principal causes of nautical accidents. It graphically illustrates shortfalls in bridge watchkeeping and considers evidence from collisions, near collisions, groundings and contacts.

The document makes a recommendation to Maritime and Coastguard Agency to address fatigue among bridge watchkeepers by taking the findings of the study to the International Maritime Organization.
