This new strategy document supplements the British Antarctic Territory’s (BAT’s) existing Heritage Strategy. It sets out:
- the Territory’s policy on protecting the UK’s Antarctic underwater heritage
- the methods for doing this
- clear future actions for the government and its stakeholders
The BAT Administration is grateful for the efforts of the organisations that drafted this strategy on our behalf:
-
the Marine Archeological Sea Trust
-
Plymouth University Law School
-
Bournemouth University
This strategy is published to coincide with the start of the Weddell Sea Expedition, which aims to discover Sir Ernest Shackleton’s iconic lost ship, the Endurance.
