The remit of the Joint Assay Offices Committee is to make recommendations to the Council regarding the discharge of its statutory powers and duties under the Hallmarking Act, in particular looking at:

  • enforcement
  • advising the Secretary of State
  • amendments to the Hallmarking Act
  • strategic matters referred to it by the Council

The standing orders describe the:

  • duties of the Committee
  • membership
  • conduct of meetings
  • reporting procedures

The standing orders were approved by the Council in October 2018. The standing orders were amended by the Council in October 2020 to allow for meetings to be held by alternative means.
