Britten Farming has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from Old Red Sandstone at Green Farm, Downhead at National Grid References ST 68638 45748 and ST 68789 45433.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

5.45 cubic metres an hour

60 cubic metres a day

21,900 cubic metres a year

between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water will be used for general agriculture and domestic supply. The proposed abstraction lies within the Mells Nunney Brook Tribs catchment and Bristol Avon and North Somerset Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
