This notice of approval only continues to apply in relation to building work on a particular building, where a building notice or an initial notice has been given to, or full plans have been deposited with, a local authority, in respect of that building, before 15 June 2022, provided that the building work on that building is started before 15 June 2023. See the notice that applies from 15 June 2022.

This notice of approval sets out the national approved calculation methodologies for CO2 emissions, fabric energy efficiency and energy performance certificates for new buildings in England, and for certain buildings in Wales, for the purposes of regulations 25 and 29 of the Building Regulations 2010.

This approval takes effect on 6 April 2014 and continues in effect until withdrawn by the Secretary of State or superseded.

Earlier versions of the methodologies may continue to be used for building work started on site before 6 April 2014; or where a notification of building work has been given before 6 April 2014 provided that the building work is commenced on site before 6 April 2015.

The department has also published a divisional circular letter informing building control bodies of this notice of approval.

A separate notice of approval for calculating the energy performance of buildings as required by the Energy Performance of Buildings (England and Wales) Regulations 2012 has been issued.
