Details

The government has published in draft a contract that we expect large developers to sign, committing developers to remediate unsafe buildings with which they are associated. We aim to refine and finalise the terms of the contract within 4 weeks.

As of 8 July 2022, 48 developers have signed a pledge committing to remediate fire-safety defects in buildings over 11 metres that they have played a role in developing or refurbishing over the last 30 years, in England.

The draft contract attached turns the commitments in that pledge into a detailed contract. We will engage industry, leaseholders and residents and other parties with the aim of finalising the terms of the contract by 10 August 2022. The contract will give effect to the principles agreed in the pledge.
