Details of the application

Burnley Group Partnership has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Sock Drain and an unnamed drain at Burnley Hall Estate between National Grid References (NGRs) TG 45979 21485 and TG 46979 21916, and between NGRs TG 46086 21341 and TG 47124 21723.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 54 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,296 cubic metres a day
  • 100,000 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.
