Details

This is a tool that allows local authorities to calculate their business rates levy or safety net for 2021 to 2022 national non-domestic rates (NNDR1) returns.

In the calculator an authority name can be picked from the green drop-down menu, then the data for the authority can be input into the green shaded cells to produce that authority’s levy or safety net outturn amount for 2021 to 2022. The authority’s levy or safety net balance will then be shown in the blue shaded cells at the bottom of the calculator. Where there is no levy nor safety net for an authority then the cells will be shaded grey.

The Levy and Safety Net regulations state the law as regards the calculation and the government does not provide an interpretation of the regulations or legal advice to external bodies. This calculator is not legal advice or an interpretation of the regulations, but our view on what should be included in the calculations. Authorities should take their own advice if they requires a definitive view of the law.
