The United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in October 2000. The WPS agenda recognises the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls and the important role women can and do play in the conflict cycle from prevention to conflict resolution.
Twenty years after and a further nine resolutions on WPS, there is a strong normative framework but a significant implementation gap. There has been no significant increase in women at negotiating tables; gender-based violence is increasing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic; and women peacebuilders are suffering increasing reprisals for speaking out across the globe.
The British High Commission in Yaounde is therefore pleased to launch a call for proposals for the 2020/2021 International Programme Fund (IPF) to support women, peace and security priorities in Cameroon. The IPF will provide funding to project(s) that promote women’s full, effective and meaningful participation in conflict resolution, peacebuilding and countering violent extremism.
Interested not-for-profit organisations or a consortium of organisations in Cameroon with experience in delivering similar projects may apply by submitting:
- A project proposal (Template attached, MS Word Document, 63 KB)
- An activity based budget – ABB NOT exceeding XAF 20,000,000 (Template attached, MS Excel Spreadsheet, 26 KB). You may use your organisation’s internal budgeting template if you wish.
The bidding process is competitive and proposals will be assessed based on relevance, cost-effectiveness, project design, including clear, achievable objectives/outputs and the capacity of the bidding organisation including a track record of previous successful projects.
Selected projects should start by 25 January 2021 and all activities must be completed by 19 March 2021. Successful bidder(s) will have to sign an Accountable Grant Agreement with the High Commission and commit to reporting requirements. The implementer(s) must be willing to engage with the High Commission on identifying media and digital outreach opportunities to publicise the project.
