The Home Office contributes to cutting crime and promoting community safety through its national policy and strategies. We recognise that police and crime commissioners (PCCs), police forces and their partners are best placed to decide on what action is needed to tackle crime in their areas, but there are some aspects of crime and policing that need national strategies and nationally coordinated operational response.
The briefings above look at the various areas where central government input is important. PCCs will need to be aware of these, and how they affect police and partners.
