This note gives guidance on the 3 most common types of biofuels and whether they are classed as dangerous goods for transportation.

The biofuels discussed are:

  • biodiesel
  • bioethanol
  • vegetable oil

This guidance was published in January 2013 and revised in February 2020. It is due for revision in December 2022.
