Cemex UK Materials Limited: application made to abstract water

Cemex UK Materials Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0069/037 to abstract water from underground strata comprising of River Trent alluvium at Cromwell Quarry, Cromwell, Nottinghamshire for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to the River Trent at National Grid Reference SK 80855 61689.
The variation applied for is to abstract water as follows:
- 432 cubic metres an hour
- 10,368 cubic metres a day
- 2,100,000 cubic metres a year
from the area of abstraction known as Ness Farm, contained within the area with National Grid References SK 80313 61469, SK 80900 61344, SK 80686 60757 and SK 80227 60981. The variation is also to increase the quantity of water abstracted from the area specified in condition 2.1 of the licence, from 1,804,267 cubic metres a year to 2,100,000 cubic metres a year.
