Cemex UK Materials Limited: application made to abstract water

Cemex UK Materials Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata comprised of sand and gravel underlain by the Triassic Branscombe Mudstone Formation at Ripple East Quarry, Bow Lane, Ripple, Worcestershire.
The abstraction will take place from the area contained within the boundary formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References: SO 86831 37529, SO 87140 37702, SO 87393 37160 and SO 87068 37087.
The water will be transferred to a flooded former gravel pit at National Grid Reference SO 086738 36882 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 417 cubic metres an hour
- 10,000 cubic metres a day
- 700,000 cubic metres a year.
Abstraction will take place all year.
