Accessibility statement for the online UK CoC/FSE checker
This accessibility statement applies to the certificate of competency/flag state endorsement checker - the online UK CoC/FSE checker.
This website is run by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to the website using a screen reader (including the most recent version of NVDA)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, because of “the non-compliances” listed.
Content that is not accessible
The content listed is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
The headings on the page are not clearly defined, which may make the hierarchy of information shown unclear. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.6 (headings and labels).
The language of the page is not clearly defined, and although this functioned correctly with the tested screen readers, could lead to issues. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.1.1 (language of parts).
We plan to address these non-compliant items by October 2024. When we publish new content, we will make sure this meets accessibility standards.
