This command paper sets out how the UK government and devolved governments propose to work together on regulating chemicals and pesticides. This includes:
- Biocidal Products (BPR)
- Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP)
- detergents
- Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)
- Plant Protection Products (PPP)
- Prior Informed Consent (PIC)
- mercury
- United Kingdom Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (UK REACH)
- relevant international conventions (Stockholm, Rotterdam, Basel and Minamata)
- the United Nations Global Harmonised System (for classifying and communicating the hazardous properties of chemicals)
- the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM)
The provisional Common Framework has received ministerial approval from all 4 governments. It was laid in the UK Parliament to enable parliamentary scrutiny to begin.
