This report sets out progress made to improve the quality of education, training and practice of social work with adults in the last year.

It highlights the main priorities and issues for the adult social work profession, including:

  • repositioning social work practice and professional leadership at the heart of adult social care
  • working with the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and the Principal Social Workers Network to demonstrate the value of social work to an integrated health and care system
  • continuing to improve standards of social work education, training and practice in key areas of social work with adults
  • creating a system of social work regulation that will further raise standards across the whole profession

The report also features case studies from local authorities across the country, including examples of rights-based and strengths-based approaches, social work in mental health, workforce development and integration.
