Details
The Childcare and early years survey of parents (CEYSP) aims to provide information to help monitor the progress of childcare and early years education policies and public attitudes.
Interviews take place each year with a nationally representative sample of 5,000 to 6,000 parents with children aged 0 to 14 living in England. Interviews are primarily carried out face-to-face.
This research built on a similar ‘mode trial’ for the CEYSP carried out in 2018 and published in 2019: ‘Childcare and early years survey of parents: 2019’. These trials were designed to test the more economical push-to-web (online) survey intended to produce survey estimates to complement, or even replace, those produced by the face-to-face CEYSP.
The 2023 mode trial surveyed 1,705 parents of children aged 0 to 14 living in private residential accommodation in England.
The results of the surveys are available in the: ‘Statistics: childcare and early years’collection.
