Request for all information held by the department on the Church of Scientology from 1 January 1993 to present.

Assessment extracts from the following three files were released on 3 September 2008:

• CHA 95 - Relates to an early consideration of the Church of Scientology’s application for charitable status.
• LAB 99 - Contains emails from officials arranging a meeting in 2000 with representatives of the Church of Scientology to discuss immigration policy.
• FCU 03 - Contains information relating to the department’s preparations for a judicial review brought and eventually withdrawn by the Church of Scientology in 2003, regarding the non-recognition of Scientology as a religion within the prison service.
