The City Deal for Greater Birmingham is part of the first wave of City Deals to get the go-ahead from government.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Details

The City Deal for Greater Birmingham includes plans to:

  • put a Skills for Growth Compact in place: this will help employers, colleges and schools to link students with real-world work opportunities
  • kick-start housing and mixed-use development on public land to address long-term housing and employment site needs
  • build on Birmingham’s leading position in life sciences and its unique assets as a location for clinical trials
  • speed up carbon savings and create green jobs by expanding a green deal programme
