Details
We have concluded deals with Greater Birmingham and Solihull, Bristol and the West of England, Greater Manchester, Leeds City Region, Liverpool City Region, Nottingham, Newcastle and Sheffield City Region. Across these deals there is an impressive picture of devolved powers and new and innovative ways of doing things that will unlock growth and deliver jobs.
The core cities have estimated that the first wave of deals will create 175,000 jobs over the next 20 years and 37,000 new apprenticeships. If achieved, this is a significant contribution to our economy – one that will create real opportunities for real people across the country. Crucially, through these deals the core cities are embarking on new and innovate ways of driving local economic growth. Taken together, these deals provide a suite of new freedoms, powers and tools to help cities go for growth.
