Bond DDG commits to influence and support the UK development and humanitarian sector to adopt CRPD-compliant policies, adhere to principles of disability-inclusion in their work and meet their commitments made at the Summit.

We will follow up and support development and humanitarian actors to implement their commitments made at the Summit. We will support DFID to draft their new Disability Framework and work to support and monitor its implementation.

Bond DDG commits to act as a catalyst to increase the fully funded and meaningful participation of people with disabilities among UK development and humanitarian actors

We will advocate for the full participation of people with disabilities. We will ensure that our advocacy is informed by members work with people with disabilities in low and middle income countries. Based on members’ experience – we will support organisations to include people with disabilities in a meaningful way.

Bond DDG commits to gather evidence and share best practice, from across our members’ programmes, and use this to scale up efforts to raise awareness and advocate for effective strategies to eliminate stigma and discrimination of people with disabilities.

This will form a key part of our objectives and plans over the next 2-3 years. We will ensure sharing sessions on this topic in at least one of our member meetings.

Bond DDG commits to gather evidence and share best practice from across our members’ programmes, and use this to scale up efforts to encourage greater awareness, especially in non-formal sector; increase body of evidence on economic empowerment; and support mainstream organisations, government, policy makers and donors to create disability inclusive training and workplaces, financial services and social protection schemes.

BOND DDG commits to gather evidence and share best practice from across our members’ programmes, and use this to scale up efforts to encourage greater awareness and increase body of evidence on the importance of Assistive Technology as key enabler for disability inclusion.

E. Commitments for Data Disaggregation:

BOND DDG commits to the promoting the collection of rigorous, reliable and comparable data and evidence on disability: including the use of recognised methodologies such as the Washington Group questions and Model Disability Survey; qualitative data on the lived experiences of people with disabilities and data on those living outside of families and in institutions.

We will organise a session at a Bond DDG meeting on data in 2019 for members to share experiences. We will promote disaggregated data in our influencing work. We will share members’ experiences of disaggregating data with the development sector.
F. Commitments for Women and Girls with Disabilities:

BOND DDG commits to taking into account the different and intersecting forms of discrimination that people with disabilities experience, including girls and women of all ages, across all of our influencing work and when sharing learning across members.

We will ensure that when promoting the participation of people with disabilities we promote the specific inclusion of women with disabilities and other people who are often left out of consultation
G. Commitments for people with disabilities in Humanitarian Contexts:

BOND DDG commits to promoting inclusive humanitarian responses, including through the uptake of the Humanitarian Inclusion Standards for Older People and People with Disabilities and the implementation of the principals within the Charter on Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action

We will share information amongst our members and ensure that policy papers and submissions promote inclusive humanitarian response and the standards where possible. We will ensure our influencing work on humanitarian action complies with the principles.
