A. Commitments to eliminate Stigma and Discrimination

Please enter the exact wording of the commitment/s, including details of others who has supported its development (75 words limit): Leonard Cheshire commits to providing research and data on CRPD-compliant legislation, policy and long-term action plans, and supporting DPOs to participate in accountability processes, globally and in countries where it has active involvement – and with investment in action needed to monitor their implementation. Leonard Cheshire will support DPOs to monitor SDG implementation in at least three countries, and will train youth with disabilities as citizen reporters to monitor progress towards selected disability specific SDGs.

Leonard Cheshire will work with DPOs to support CRPD compliant policies and legislation on an ongoing basis. By 2020, Leonard Cheshire will provide research and share insight on how DPOs use indicator frameworks to monitor SDG implementation in at least 3 countries. Leonard Cheshire will also provide learnings and insight into how youth with disabilities engage in SDG monitoring and implementation processes in at least three countries. B. Commitments for Inclusive Education

Please enter the exact wording of the commitment/s, including details of others who have supported its development (75 words limit): Leonard Cheshire commits to work with DPOs to engage with national governments, UN agencies, donors and other CSOs in the areas where it works to ensure that policy frameworks suitably include children with disabilities, meet international standards and fulfil the rights of all children to have an education. We will also commit to improving the picture of data of inclusive education and provide evidence on implementation and insight into the gaps.

On an ongoing basis, Leonard Cheshire will support DPOs to engage with governments and provide learnings and best practice on how policies should be inclusive. We will also work with DPOs to monitor the implementation of inclusive education policies in line with SDG4 and Article 24 of the UNCRPD through our SDG monitoring project.

By 2020, Leonard Cheshire will have generated a pool of trained citizen reporters in at least 3 countries to monitor SDG implementation; partnered with national DPOs to strengthen their participation in national accountability processes; strengthened capacity of DPOs to conduct and use research, and participate in accountability processes.

C. Commitments for Economic Empowerment

Leonard Cheshire commits to share, research, data and best practice on inclusive employment practices and work with relevant actors to share learnings and influence practices to ensure employment practices are inclusive. Leonard Cheshire commits to disseminating learnings to relevant networks and partners such as The ILO Global Business and Disability Network.

By 2022, Leonard Cheshire will support over 20,000 persons with disabilities to receive skills related training to access appropriate and sustainable employment opportunities. By 2020, Leonard Cheshire will share learnings from its research and programmes and use data to understand labour market participation better with relevant networks and actors.

Please enter the exact wording of the commitment/s, including details of others who have supported its development (75 words limit): Leonard Cheshire commits to contributing to the capacity building of school systems through training and working with teachers and staff to ensure that all children can access and complete a quality education in the countries in which it works. Leonard Cheshire also commits to providing technical expertise to decision and policy makers to ensure that teachers are equipped with the skills and resources to deliver inclusive education.

Leonard Cheshire will develop models for inclusion on an ongoing basis and by 2022; we will support over 15,000 young children with disabilities to access a quality education. On an ongoing basis, Leonard Cheshire will undertake more research on learning outcomes for children with disabilities, into classroom resourcing and practices and collate data on relevant indicators to inclusive education

On an ongoing basis Leonard Cheshire will provide technical support, learnings, data and expertise to DPOs to work with national governments to ensure that SDG 8 and Article 27 on the UNCRPD is implemented. Leonard Cheshire will support DPOs to use data to assess monitoring and implementation.

By 2020, Leonard Cheshire will share learnings and findings from its international programmes and research on the use of technology to contribute to the global discussions on how technology can be an enabler to inclusion and participation.

Please enter the exact wording of the commitment/s, including details of others who have supported its development (75 words limit): Leonard Cheshire commits to contributing to addressing the global gaps in disability data; contributing learning about the data landscape; and insight and research from its work to strengthen accountability processes through improved data collection. Leonard Cheshire will also continue to advocate for the use of the Washington Group Questions in national data collection efforts.

On an ongoing basis, Leonard Cheshire will expand and develop the Disability Data Portal to add further countries, indicators and data sources to give a more detailed and up to picture of disability data. Leonard Cheshire will also share learnings from its work around SDG monitoring and the use of indicator frameworks by DPOs; learnings from its research into the expanded use of the Washington Group Questions by NGOs and DPOs; and will build capacity of DPOs in at least 3 countries to engage in national data collection efforts to support inclusive policy implementation.
