The World Federation of the Deafblind will, supported by Sense International, publish quadrennial Global Reports on deafblindness, starting in 2018, to monitor the implementation of the UNCRPD and the SDGs. These reports will present data on deafblindness; commentary on barriers and challenge; case studies and learnings; and act as evidence for recommendations to governments and other stakeholders towards full and equal realisation of the rights of persons with deafblindness globally. This commitment is funding dependent.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

The Global report on deafblindness, the first to be published in 2018 with support and assistance by Sense International, will form the baseline for future reports to be published quadrennially in 2022, 2026 and 2030 to track the implementation process and impact. The development of these reports will start 2020, 2024 and 2028 provided funding is available.

Please note this is a joint commitment with the World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB). WFDB will be submitting the same commitment.

B. Commitments for Inclusive Education:

Sense International commits to building the capacity of teachers and staff to include learners with deafblindness in education, in countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. This will be delivered through current programmes, and future programmes subject to funding.
