Client level data (CLD) and Short and Long Term (SALT) data collections dual-run grant determination 2023 to 2024: [No 31/6534]
Published 9 March 2023
Applies to England
The Minister of State for Care and Mental Health (‘the Minister of State’), in exercise of the powers conferred by section 31 of the Local Government Act 2003, makes the following determination:
Citation
1. This determination may be cited as the Client level data (CLD) and Short and Long Term (SALT) data collections dual-run 2023 to 2024 [No 31/6534].
Purpose of the grant
2. The purpose of these grants is to provide support to local authorities in England towards expenditure lawfully incurred or to be incurred by them in funding the dual running of CLD and SALT collections. We expect the budget used by local authorities for SALT will shift to CLD once SALT is stopped, and we are providing funding for local authorities to run both collections in 2023 to 2024 to ensure continuity in data collections.
3. As CLD is a new data collection and its ability to replicate SALT is still being verified, it is important to dual-run both data collections for the first year to calibrate and quality-assure CLD.
Determination
4. The Minister of State determines the authorities to which grant is to be paid and the amount of grant to be paid. The authorities and the amounts are set out in Annex A: grant allocations.
Grant conditions
5. There are no grant conditions for the Client level data (CLD) and Short and Long Term (SALT) data collections dual-run 2023 to 2024 grant.
Treasury consent
6. Before making this determination in relation to local authorities in England, the Minister of State obtained the consent of the Treasury.
Signed by authority of the Minister of State for Care, Helen Whately
Uma Moorthy, Deputy Director for Social Care Data and Analysis
