This document is designed to provide guidance to three main audiences:

  • doctors licensed with the General Medical Council
  • all doctors taking on roles as responsible officers
  • all organisations designated (by the Secretary of State for Health) as having to nominate or appoint a responsible officer in England, Scotland and Wales.
