Effluent type

Trade effluent consisting of treated effluent from the dissolving of fuel element debris in an acid solution. Treatment includes. pH adjustment, filtration, adsorption and iron exchange. The effluent also receives pre-dilution before discharge into the estuary.

Volume

20 cubic metres per day

The application is to extend the existing permission to discharge this effluent for a further 24 months and also to allow a change to a new outfall pipe (without pre-dilution) at the same location if the current outlet pipe silts up within this time.
