The CMA’s annual report and accounts sets out the department’s performance, achievements, and accounts from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021. It highlights the wide range of competition and consumer work that the CMA has carried out in the past year.
The highlights include:

The CMA’s response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic - as a direct result of the CMA’s investigations, customers have been able to obtain hundreds of millions of pounds in refunds for events and holidays that were cancelled due to the pandemic.

The CMA’s new powers – the CMA has assumed new responsibilities investigating more global cartel, antitrust and merger cases; setting up the Digital Markets Unit; establishing the Office for the Internal Market; and working with partner agencies across the world.

The CMA’s impact assessment for 2020/21 has also been published. For every £1 we spent on our operating costs the average benefit to customers over the last 3 years was £25.
