CMA response to DBT call for evidence

The CMA responded to the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) open call for evidence on Smarter regulation and the regulatory landscape in January 2024. In this response, the CMA sets out how the evidence submitted to the House of Lords maps across to the themes of DBT’s call for evidence.

CMA response to DBT consultation

The CMA responded to DBT’s consultation on Smarter Regulation: Strengthening the economic regulation of the energy, water and telecoms sectors in January 2024. The CMA’s response focused on the areas where the CMA has a direct role in the landscape – concurrency and regulatory appeals. The CMA welcomed and supported the proposed reforms to the regulatory appeals regimes which, as a package, the CMA believes would help both to improve and simplify specific appeals processes and the overall appeals landscape.
