The Strategic Assessment informs the CMA’s medium term priorities and helps the CMA focus its discretionary work.
It has been published alongside the CMA’s consultation on its annual plan.
It considers specific risks and challenges in:
- online markets and the digital economy
- emerging sectors/business models and high technology
- regulated sectors and infrastructure markets
- public services markets
It looks at factors that may inhibit consumers’ ability to access markets/their decision-making. In addition, whilst not identifying specific risks, it provides a view of markets of potential interest, given their economic significance.
