Documents

Details

The remediation and management of land affected by coal mining legacy frequently requires that permanent or mitigatory engineering solutions are implemented to ensure its continued safety and stability.

Technical guidance note (TGN02/2021) has been published to provide Designers with guidance on the minimum required standard their submissions should meet to enable the Coal Authority to consider the acceptability of their proposals through engineering appraisal.

This appraisal may be for scope of works covered wholly or in part by a valid Coal Authority Permit which may be conditioned to require such appraisal or in association with proposals being considered as part of pre-application advice; the latter relating to the Coal Authority’s role as a statutory consultee on Planning Applications.
