This FMP is in development.

A public consultation to seek views on the draft plan will be launched later in 2024. The final FMP will be published before the end of 2024.

The cockle fisheries management plan (FMP) covers relevant stocks in English waters.

Defra is preparing the FMP in partnership with the Association of Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (AIFCA). AIFCA is collaborating with the relevant Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs) and with other organisations and stakeholders with an interest in the fishery.

The cockle FMP will be prepared and published to meet the requirements set out in the Fisheries Act 2020.
