The UK uses International Climate Finance and other Official Development Assistance to deliver programmes that support Colombia’s climate change ambition and real-economy action. Under the Partnership for Sustainable Growth, both countries collaborate on:
- energy transition
- biodiversity and science
- forests and conservation
Energy transition
Under the Partnership, we are collaborating to help scale-up non-conventional renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable mobility in Colombia, to help drive emissions reduction.
Emissions reduction
Accelerated emissions reductions in line with the aims of the Paris Agreement and Colombia’s new Nationally Determined Contribution, which aims to reduce emissions by 51% in 2030 compared to Business as Usual.
Biodiversity and science
Understanding, valuing and promoting the sustainable use of biodiversity: under the Partnership, We are working to promote the bioeconomy and develop bioscience research. This will help understand and manage sustainably biodiversity in Colombia and support livelihoods.
Forest and conservation
Halting and reversing deforestation and promoting environmental rule of law: under the Partnership, the UK and Colombia are working hard to reduce deforestation and promote sustainable and regenerative livelihoods to the communities and ethnic minorities which depend on forests.
