In July 2024, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) published its Annual Progress Report to Parliament

The government response to the report highlights the actions this government has taken since July 2024 to reduce emissions and seize on the economic opportunities of net zero. The response:

  • outlines the government’s priorities through the Clean Energy Superpower Mission and following COP29
  • sets out that the action taken so far and future plans mean that this government is acting or partially acting on all of the CCC’s 35 recommendations to UK government, with progress proactively being made on the CCC’s 35 recommendations for the Devolved Governments
  • highlights further actions that this government will take to deliver on its targets

Over the coming months the government will set out the next steps for the mission, including setting out a detailed updated plan to meet our Carbon Budgets, and setting the pathway to Carbon Budget 7 by June 2026.
